Summer Veggie Still Life

Recently I came across a wonderful blog spot by Karin Jurick called Different Strokes From Different Folks where Karin submits a photo of a subject and many of the art blog spotters do their interpretation of it. This is my first stab at it. This painting measures 8 x10" and was done in Oil Paint.

The pink background gives it a nice twist, and really makes the other colors sing!

Thank you very much for your kind comments!I chose to use the cool color temperature of thalo red rose as the background color. As it would contrast with the warmer colors of the tomatoes and onions.I used perm green light out of the tube to paint the ears of corn. Then mixing in other colors to warm them up a bit.

The pink works. I like the way you have all these lines going off the edge and nicely breaking up the (pink) negative space.

Carol...yes that was an intentional
liberty... it makes the subject less static and it breaks up the picture plane...all sides of the canvas are making contact with the subject.
thanks for your comment Carol.

Dennis,
Thanks for your generous comment on my dsfdf picture. It was a challenge for me to paint the girl. I am not good with people. I appreciate you following my blog. Andrea
