South Mill Pond Portsmouth NH

The old port town viewed from Junkins Ave.... across the street from City Hall. I took artistic liberties with a few of the buildings here. The North Church steeple dominates the horizon line and acts as my focal point. I added a couple telephone poles and the shadow of the willow tree to frame-in the steeple. I had fun brushing in the foliage across the pond...that was my starting point laying on the paint.

12 x 12" Oil Paint on streched canvas

Dennis, this is gorgeous! Is that the North Church of Paul Revere fame? I love these series of town paintings. Each one just finds me wanting to be at that place at that moment!

Thank you Autumn.
The North Church in Boston is of Paul Revere fame.
Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch
Of the North Church tower as a signal light
One if by land, and two if by sea,
And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex village and farm,
For the country folk to be up and to arm."
