North Mill Pond In Spring Portsmouth

This is another view of Maplewood Ave. in Portsmouth. Here I focused on the sunlit house as my center of interest. By keeping the values of the surroundings to a medium / dark range, the sunlit parts of the house jump out.

Gosh, Dennis. I just love these Americana town paintings of your's. I've always wanted to live in the upper northeast corner of this beautiful country. Your paintings just bring that home for me. Love the older but well kept homes you paint, the bridge and creeks running nearby...

Thank you Autumn. It's good to know that I can convey the spirit of these old towns through my paintings. I try to bring a nostalgia to them...possibly take you back in time. Although the macadam is replaced with asphalt and the telephone poles replace trees some areas still retain a spirit, a feeling I get... and I have to find a way to convey that feeling.
