N.C.Wyeth is by far one of my favorite master painters. I submitted this copy of an N.C. Wyeth painting to Michelle Burnetts Challenge "Following The Masters". http://followingthemasters.blogspot.com/The original painting was used as cover art for a story called "Buffalo Swamp, A Ballad of the Moonshine Belt" by David Runyon for Hearst's International Magazine, June 1923. N.C. was known more as an "illustrator"for all the book art he created and sold in the mainstream book industry (Scribners) during the early years of the last century. N.C. was elected into the National Academy in 1941 where he showed his work regularly. I painted the copy of Buffalo Swamp the same size as the original - 34x38" Oil Paint

thank you Sheila... one time I was visiting the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland Me. There I was, among all the Jamie and Andrew Wyeth paintings and I was wondering where N.C.'s work was.I called over to the attendant and asked "Pardon me maam, but could you tell me where I could find um...uh, whats-his-name...uh..you know the Wyeth ... the one with the talent?...NEWELL CONVERS!"She looked at me perplexed frowned and said "They ALL have talent!" Then we smiled at each other, and then she pointed up the stairs.

Dennis this is a truly wonderful work. I haven't seen the original, but this has inspired me to investigate the artist further.

lol... yeah Pat, I painted this during a period when I was studying N.C.'s life and painting style...and I was totally absorbed with N.C. Wyeth.
